Only 600 miles from the coast of Florida land where starvation stalks the children and poverty cripples everyone, a little help goes a long way. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of the population lives in abject poverty, without medical care, adequate nutrition, or even potable water. 45% of the population is completely illiterate. The statistics for children are even more grim: at least one in ten children will die before age four, and 7% are enslaved.

In 2002 Brebis de Saint-Michel de L'Attalaye orphanage began with seven children rescued from the streets, living in the home of Magarette Saint-Fleur, our orphanage director. 'BRESMA' now cares for 70 children in two leased houses!

Lighthouse Adoptions is honored to serve and support BRESMA orphanage. We help Colorado families adopt children and campaign for child sponsors and donations throughout the state. Although BRESMA has saved the lives of over 100 children already, and given hope to many more. Yet there is still much to be done. Won't you consider helping us?

Donations

Our orphanage has many expenses: feeding and caring for over 100 children round the clock takes a lot of formula, food, and diapers. Loving arms must be on call every day and all through the night! However, even a small donation from you can make a big difference. Just fifty dollars pays a nanny's salary for a month. Twenty dollars will buy a 100 pound sack of rice. Your donation can bring help and hope to a needy Haitian child. Donations are tax deductible.

Child Sponsorships

Would you rather be more personally involved with one special child? We desperately need sponsors for our children in the orphanage who are waiting to be adopted. Our sponsorship program is a beautiful way to help your own children learn empathy and compassion as you closely follow a child's journey to a new family and a new life. Your family will be matched with a child who touches your heart. You'll receive photos and updates every three to four months until your sponsored child goes home to her adoptive family. You can even choose your sponsored child if you wish.

Mackdaline, pictured left with a photograph and beautiful new clothes from her sponsors, summed up how the children feel about being chosen for sponsorship. Upon seeing her sponsors' picture, she told our country coordinator, "I have a special friend. I will have a blan Mama." Knowing that she has been chosen gives her hope while she waits for her forever family. Our sponsors make a difference with their support dollars and their hearts.
