Stanley and Kenken
Approximately eight and five years old

Stanley and Kenken arrived at the orphanage about one week prior to our Program Coordinator's visit. Initially they were both deeply sad. Currently they are both making new friends and Stanley is actively participating in the orphanage school.

Stanley is very protective and caring with his little brother. He gave his own evaluation interview. Stanley seems much older than his eight years. He is shy, well spoken, and exceptionally polite. He understands what adoption means and actively wants to be adopted. In his own words, "I want to go with my Mama blan to learn." Judging by his performance in school thus far, he means what he says!

Stanley probably has lived through some real trauma in his short life. This is not evident in his behavior in any way, but rather in something he said. He was playing a game with our Programs Coordinator in which we admitted to what we were afraid of. Diana said she was afraid of rats and cockroaches. Stanley said he was afraid of snakes and being beaten. Once she recovered, Diana assured him that nobody would ever, ever beat him again.

Kenken is completely adorable and loveable. He is sweet, affectionate, and snuggly with those he trusts. He is well spoken, obedient, and quietly curious. Kenken is a very easy child to love with his sweet face and matching good nature. He shares well and plays with other small children under his brother's watchful eye. Kenken says he wants to be adopted with Stanley, and he says he is at the orphanage "to get bigger."

Needless to say, families who practice any form of physical discipline on any child in their home will not be considered for Stanley and Kenken. Both of the boys enjoy playing with babies and smaller children. The family lucky enough to adopt this pair will be blessed for life. They are truly delightful souls.
