International Programs
Lighthouse Adoptions is proud to offer two well established, proven international adoption programs. We work only with overseas facilitators who are intimately familiar with the workings of their countries and have demonstrated both the desire and the ability to successfully help waiting children go home to their forever families.
In addition to seeking and preparing families to parent our children, Lighthouse provides financial and emotional support to the children who wait in our sponsored orphanages. Tax-deductible donations and child sponsorships keep our children fed, clothed, and cared for 'round the clock. In developing nations, a little bit of help goes a long way. We exist to serve these children. You can help.
Lighthouse Adoptions was originally founded specifically to serve the children living at Brebis de Saint Michel de L'Attalaye in Port-Au-Prince Haiti. The orphanage provides a very high standard of care with a high staff ratio, excellent and plentiful cooking, and daily school for the older children. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Haitian parents choose adoption for their children in order to ensure their survival and give them the opportunity for a better life.
Referrals from Haiti are quick and very detailed and personalized. Our Haitian country coordinator spends at least one week every three months living with the children at the orphanage, evaluating them and preparing them for adoption. Haitian referrals are made based upon the personality, needs, and temperament of each individual child. Pictures, video, and descriptions are generally available for adoptive families.

Lighthouse Adoptions is deeply honored to have been accepted by Patty Anglin of Acres of Hope to assist parents throughout the United States in adopting from Liberia. Patty was granted a congressional Angels in Adoption Award in 2002. She spends half her time at her orphanage in Liberia, and the remainder in Wisconsin raising her large family.
Liberia is recovering from 14 years of civil war. Many children at the orphanage are 'true orphans', while others were brought to the orphanage by brave and loving parents who wanted to give their children a chance at survival and hope for the future. Liberian children speak accented English, making their transition to American life that much simpler.
Acres of Hope provides superior orphanage care to their children, including full-time supervision by a medical doctor and daily schooling. Medically fragile children and young infants are often placed in foster care situation for even more intensive nurturing.
Liberian adoptions are both very fast and affordable, and the requirements for parents are extremely flexible. Lighthouse assists families in collecting their paperwork for Liberian dossiers. We provide extensive support and training for your family. Patty will match a child to your family based upon her intimate personal knowledge of the children she loves and shelters as they wait. She will personally oversee the processing of your adoption in-country. Liberian children can be escorted, or parents can travel to meet their child in Liberia. Learn more…
